Breast Cancer
Research Quilt
The Betty Boop Quilt was made by Judy Michael
of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin for a Breast Cancer Research benefit
sponsored by the Rock River H.O.G.(Harley Owners Group) Chapter,
and Wisconsin Harley-Davidson, the local dealer.
I quilted it on my machine, donating my time and materials.
The benefit was the 12th annual Ride
for Breast Cancer Research sponsored by these two organizations.
Ridin’ To A Cure is the name of the rally which was held on Saturday, September 30, 2006. Approximately 1,600 people
took part in the event. The quilt was one of a number of items that
were auctioned off during the event. The fund raiser netted
$295,000 for this year. In the twelve years since the event began,
the event has raised $3,700,000. Since this fund raiser is
completely volunteer based, 100% of the money raised goes directly
to breast cancer research. More information can be found at the
website:
www.RidintoaCure.com.
Below are some additional pictures of the quilt which measured 106
inches square.
